How do you spread the word about your launch?

At the end of the average day, our online searches create eight trillion gigabytes of data. Seth Stephens-Davidowitz, contributing op-ed writer for The New York Times and former Google data scientist, used that data to uncover what our searches can tell us about who we really are. The result was Everybody Lies: a book so revealing and entertaining that HarperCollins couldn’t wait to share it with the world.

HarperCollins came to us for a trailer video to help grab attention for the upcoming launch.

The anonymity of online searches reveal a lot about our hidden behaviors and attitudes, and our team set out to bring those secret thoughts to life with motion design.

Subtle and purposeful imperfections help viewers connect to what they see, so we created stylized illustrations that were engaging and didn’t take themselves too seriously. When combined with a healthy dose of humor, the illustrations supported the narrative and tied back to the approachable tone of Everybody Lies.

We focused on creating clean iconography and a minimalist look to make sure the narrative was the star of the show. The illustrations were all easily recognizable elements so viewers could visualize common lies and effortlessly follow the story.

“Propoint listened to our needs and came back to us with a concept that really hit the mark. As an added bonus, the collaborative process during the project could not have been easier.”

Michael Barrs, Associate Director of Marketing, HarperCollins

How it all turned out

The launch was a hit. Everybody Lies topped Amazon’s best seller list in three different categories and the video helped entice visitors to check out a book that’s too fascinating to pass up.
