Your business is second nature to you. You know its value inside
and out. But remember, you only have one chance to form a first
impression with potential clients and business partners. Your presentation’s
packaging plays a key role in making a strong impression and moreover
in a prospect’s decision.

PowerPoint content is king, but everything comes down to perception
Your company’s unique positioning is what differentiates
you from the crowd. But you have to make sure that your content
comes across smoothly, effectively and most importantly, in a glance.
Prospects make purchase decisions based on perceptions of your
company and its products or services. Prospects can only form a
perception based on the information they have, and the majority
of that information consists of your collateral. While prepping
your presentation, survey your materials and any past presentations.
Ask yourself if your packaging elevates your content to the next
level. It should.
Know the competition
The perceptions that you create will be compared to those of your competitors.
We certainly don’t advise following the herd, but it is a good idea to
know what the herd is up to. Before jumping to a decision about your presentation
materials, it is wise to survey the landscape. You’ll most likely find
that at least some of your competitors invest in hi-end collateral. You may
conclude that to beat out your competition you should to invest in hi-end collateral
too.
Know the competition… and then forget them. Know yourself!
Don’t let knowing the competitive landscape undermine your confidence
in what you already have. Creating impactful presentation material does not
mean reinventing- the wheel. Your brand and images have great meaning and significance.
You’ve invested a lot of time and money on branding and image. Your customers
may already have an emotional relationship to your logo and established identity.
Trust your brand identity and maintain its integrity by keeping it consistent.
Be sure to use consistent logos, typeface and colors throughout your presentation.
It tells your customer that you have a strong brand and a bold corporate identity.
Put your presentations to work for your business.
